The Everest Three Passes Trek is challenging and adventurous in the Everest region of Nepal. It takes you through three high Mountain passes: Kongma La Pass (5,535 Meters), Cho La Pass (5,420 Meters), and Renjo La Pass (5,360 Meters). Gokyo Ri (5,357m). Everest Base Camp(5,364m). Kala Patthar (5545m). This itinerary includes a detour to the village of Thame, which is off the main trekking route but offers a unique cultural experience.

Here’s a detailed itinerary for the Everest Three Passes Trek via Thame. Please note that this itinerary is a general guideline and can be subject to changes based on various factors such as weather conditions, your fitness level, and the pace of the trek. DETAILS ITINERARY FOR THREE PASS TREK EVEREST

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu. Arrival at Kathmandu airport and drive to the Hotel

Day 2: Kathmandu to Lukla flight, Then Trek to Phakding (2,610 Meters). 3 Hours.

Take an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a small mountain airstrip. From Lukla, start your trek and descend towards Phakding. Enjoy the scenic views and get accustomed to the trekking rhythm. Overnight in Phakding.

Day 3: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440 Meters) 5 Hours.

Cross several suspension bridges and follow the Dudh Koshi River. Trek through beautiful forests and reach the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. Ascend further to Namche Bazaar, a bustling Sherpa town. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 4: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar

Spend a day acclimatizing in Namche Bazaar. You can explore the town, visit the Sherpa Culture Museum, or hike up to the Everest View Hotel for panoramic views of Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 5: Namche to Thame (3,820 Meters) 4-5 Hours.

Leave from Namche Bazaar and trek towards Thame. The trail offers stunning views of the Himalayan peaks and passes through traditional Sherpa villages. Thame is a beautiful village with a famous monastery and a peaceful atmosphere. Overnight in Thame.

Day 6: Thame to Sundar Peak & Thame.

Acclimatize to Sundar peak, 5,360m, and enjoy a beautiful view of Tashi Lapcha valley, Nagpala valley, and the Tashi Lapcha site Mountains. It takes 7-8 hours to return to Thame.

Day 7: Thame To Lungden (4,700 Meters) 6-7 Hrs.

Leave Thame and head towards Renjo Lungden. The trail gradually ascends through yak pastures and glacial valleys. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of Cho Oyu and other snow-capped peaks. Overnight at Lungden.

Day 8: Cross Renjo La Pass (5,360 meters), then trek to Gokyo Lakes (4,790 meters). 6 hours.

Start early in the morning and ascend to Renjo La Pass. From the top, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of Everest, Makalu, and other peaks. Descend to the stunning Gokyo Lakes, a series of six beautiful turquoise lakes. Overnight in Gokyo.

Day 9: Hike to Gokyo Ri (5,357 Meters) 4-5 hours both ways.

Climb Gokyo Ri for a magnificent sunrise view over the Everest region. Descend back to Gokyo. and trek to Cho La Phedi (4700m), 2 hours walking from Gokyo.

Day 10: Cross Cho La Pass (5,420 meters), then trek to Dzongla (4,830 meters). 6-7 hours

Today is a challenging day as you cross Cho La Pass. The pass is steep and icy, requiring careful navigation. From the pass, descend to Dzongla, a small settlement with stunning mountain vistas. Overnight in Dzongla.

Day 11: Dzongla to Lobuche (4,910 Meters). 3 Hours.

Continue trekking along the main Everest Base Camp trail towards Lobuche. The trail offers breathtaking views of the Khumbu Glacier and several iconic peaks. Overnight in Lobuche.

Day 12: Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,164 meters), then hike to Everest Base Camp (5,364 meters). 6 hours.

Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep, the last settlement before Everest Base Camp. After a short break, hike to Everest Base Camp, the starting point for mountaineering expeditions. Enjoy the close-up views of the Khumbu Icefall and surrounding peaks. Return to Gorak Shep overnight.

Day 13: Hike to Kala Patthar (5,545 Meters), Then Trek to Lobuche. 6 Hours.

Early morning hike to Kala Patthar, the highest point of the trek, for a stunning sunrise view over Mount Everest. Descend to Gorak Shep and continue back to Lobuche, overnight in Dingboche.

Day 14: Lobuche to Chhukung via Kongma La Pass (5,535 Meters) 6-7 Hours.

According to Kongma La pass is a long day, about 7-8 hours walking. After Kongma La pass, descend to Chhukung Valley with a view of Amadablam, Island Peak, and other mountain views.

Day 15: Climbing Chhukung Ri (5,550 Meters)

Early Morning visit to Chhukung Ri 4-5 hours with a close view of Amadablam, part of Amphu Lapcha, and Island Peak (6,189 Meters).

Day 16: Chhukung to Pangboche (3,430 Meters) 2-3 hours.

After Lunch, walk up to Amadablam Base camp (4,600 Meters) for about 4-5 hours from Pangboche to Amadablam Base camp and return to Pangboche. In Amadablam, you can see many Expedition teams who want to try to climb Amadablam (6,856 Meters high Peak.

Day 17: PangBoche to Namche Bazaar (3,440 Meters). 6 Hours.

Descend from Pangboche back to Namche Bazaar. Enjoy the familiar trails and bid farewell to the mountains as you descend. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 18: Namche to Lukla (2,800m), 7 hours.

Trek to Lukla, this is your last final day in your Three Pass Trek with a guide and porter. Overnight at the Lodge in Lukla.

Day 19: Lukla to Kathmandu.

From Lukla, 35 35-minute flight to Kathmandu and transfer tothe hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 20: Kathmandu

Your safety day for your international flight. The hotel includes breakfast.

Day 21: Departure

After breakfast, drive to Kathmandu airport for your departure.

Trek Duration of the Everest Three Pass trek

The trek typically takes around 17 days to complete, depending on the itinerary and individual preferences. This duration includes both trekking and acclimatization days.

Trek Difficulty: The Three High Pass trek is considered to be a challenging trek. The trail involves long daily walks, high-altitude passes, and rugged terrains. Previous trekking experience and good physical fitness are recommended.

Trekking Permits for Lower Dolpa Trek

The two primary permits required are the Sagarmatha National Park Entry and the Pasang Lhamu Municipality Permit. These permits can be obtained in Lukla and Jorsale.

The best time to do the Lower Dolpo Circuit trek is during the spring (March to May and autumn (September to November) seasons. These months offer the most favorable weather and optimal high Mountain trek conditions in the Dolpo region. Spring (March to May): This is the post-winter season when the weather starts to warm up, and the trekking trails become vibrant with blooming flowers and rhododendrons. The temperature is generally mild, with clear skies and excellent visibility. It’s a great time to witness the beautiful landscapes, lush greenery, and panoramic mountain views.

Autumn ( September to November): This is the post-monsoon season when the weather is stable, and the skies are generally clear. The temperature is comfortable, making it ideal for trekking. The autumn months offer breathtaking views of the mountains, and the overall trekking experience is enhanced by the festive atmosphere during the Nepalese Dashain and Tihar festivals.
