Kathmandu Valley with Nagarkot hiking

Kathmandu Valley Nagarkot hiking. Kathmandu Valley area is one of the most popular and historic cities in the world.

Visit Swaymbu Nath Monkey Temple: Swaymbhunath is an ancient religious complex atop a hill in the Kathmandu Valley, west of Kathmandu City. The Tibetan name for the site means ‘Sublime Trees Flags. pa Shing. Kun), for the many varieties of trees found on the hill. However, Shing. Kun may be the local Nepal Bhasa name for the complex, Swayambhu, the Buddhist Newars, in whose mythological history and origin myth as well as day-to-day religious practice Swayambhunath occupies a central position, it is probably the most sacred among Buddhist pilgrimage sites. For Tibetans and followers of Tibetan Buddhism, it is second only to Boudha. Swayambhunath is the Hindu name.

History of  Sowyambu Nath: The complex consists of a stupa, a variety of shrines, and temples, some dating back to the Licchavi period. A Tibetan monastery, museum, and library are more recent additions. The stupa has Buddha’s eyes and eyebrows painted on it. Between them, the number one in Devanagari script is painted in the fashion of a nose. There are also shops, restaurants, and hostels. The site has two access points: a long staircase leading directly to the main platform of the temple, which is from the top of the hill to the east, and a car road around the hill from the south leading to the southwest entrance. The first sight on reaching the top of the stairway is the Vajra. Tsultrim Allione describes the experience:

Hinddush Tampole Pashupatinath: We were breathless and sweating as we stumbled up the last steep steps and practically fell upon the biggest vajra (thunderbolt scepter) that I had ever seen. Behind this Vajra was the vast, round, white dome of the stupa, like a full solid skirt, at the top of which were two giant Buddha eyes wisely looking out over the peaceful valley that was just beginning to come.

The Pashupatinath Temple is a famous, sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Pashupatinath and is located on the banks of the Bagmati River 5 kilometers northeast of Kathmandu Valley in the eastern part of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. This temple is considered one of the sacred temples of the Hindu faith. The temple serves as the seat of the national deity, Lord Pashupatinath. This temple complex has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list Since 1979. This “extensive Hindu temple precinct” is a sprawling collection of temples, ashrams, images, and inscriptions raised over the centuries along the banks of the sacred Bagmati river, and is included as one of the seven monument groups in UNESCO’s designation of Kathmandu Valley as a cultural heritage site. One of the major Festivals of the temple is Maha Shivaratri on which day over 8, 00,000 devotees visit here

Patan Durbar Square is situated at the center of the city of Lalitpur in Nepal. It is one of the three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. One of its attractions is the ancient royal palace where the Malla Kings of Lalitpur resided.

The Durbar Square is a marvel of Newar architecture. The square floor is tiled with red bricks. There are many temples and idols in the area. The main temples are aligned opposite the western face of the palace. The entrance of the temples faces east, towards the palace. There is also a bell situated in the alignment beside the main temples. The Square also holds old Newari residential houses. There are other temples and structures in and around Patan Durbar Square built by the Newari people. A center of both Hinduism and Buddhism, Patan Durbar Square has 136 Bahals languages in its courtyards and 55 major temples.

Boudhanath Buddhist Tampole. Khasi Chaitya and Khāsa Chaitya are stupas in Kathmandu, Nepal. Located about 11 km (6.8 meters from the center and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu, its massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in Nepal and the world.

The influx of large populations of refugees from Tibet has seen the construction of over 50 gompas (Tibetan monasteries) around Boudha. As of 1979, Boudha Stupa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along with Swayambhu, it is one of the most popular tourist sites in Kathmandu.

Day tour in Kathmandu: The stupa is on the ancient trade route from Tibet which enters the Kathmandu Valley by the village of Sankhu in the northeast corner and continues to the ancient and smaller stupa of Chabahil named Charumati Stupa often called “Little Boudhanath. It then turns directly south, heading over the Bagmati River to Lalitpur, bypassing the main city of Kathmandu which was built later). Tibetan merchants have rested and offered prayers at Boudha Stupa for many centuries. When refugees entered Nepal from Tibet in the 1950s, many decided to live around Boudhanath. The stupa is said to entomb the remains of Kassapa Buddha.

Newari Kingdom of Bhaktapur: Founded in the 12th century by King Ananda Deva, Bhaktapur served as the capital of Nepal during the first half of the Malla Dynasty until the Kingdom split into three in the 15th century. Bhaktapur was a powerful and wealthy independent Newar kingdom under the Malla kings who ruled Bhaktapur from the 15th century to the late 18th century before it was annexed into the Gorkha Kingdom. The Malla era was a golden one for Bhaktapur as it was during their reign that art and architecture flourished in Bhaktapur. After its annexation, Bhaktapur lost most of its importance with a halt in the development of arts, and Bhaktapur remained isolated from the new capital city of Kathmandu and Patan allowing it to remain a homogeneous Newar city. Bhaktapur speaks a distinct dialect of Nepal Bhasa.

A cultural tour to Bhaktapur is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Nepal. As such it is an important tourist destination in Nepal with the medieval city attracting 301,012 tourists Bhaktapur is also notable for its pottery and handicraft industries and for its rich culture. Due to its well-preserved medieval nature, UNESCO inscribed Bhaktapur as a World Heritage Site in 1979. Bhaktapur is also referred to as the “Rome of Nepal.
