Mera Peak Climbing Cost and Itinerary
Mera Peak climbing cost and itinerary. It is the highest trekking peak in the Khumbu region of Nepal. This is a peak considered a Trekking Peak, meaning it’s high but no technical and not very difficult. Many trekkers choose to climb their first Himalayan Peak. You don’t need advanced mountaineering skill-basic glacier travel, use of crampons, and walking with an ice axe are usually enough.
Khare to high camp about 4-5 hours walking. High camp site on a small rocky outcrop on the west ridge, offering safe tent platforms and great views of the mountains. Note that High Camp can be extremely cold and windy.
High camp to Mera summit
High camp to Mera Central (6,470m), summit push usually climbing Strat 1-2 am. Climb the steady glacier ramp upward to the broad summit plateau; the slope steepens slightly (30*) near the top. Most seasons, there may be a short final headwall (1ere a fixed rope is sometimes placed.
Peak summit from high camp
The summit is a large snow dome with great views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu, and Kanchenjunga, from high camp 4-6 hour climb summit, and after the summit, descend back to high camp for rest, then continue to Khare the same day, it takes 3-4 hours descending to Khare.
Equipment required
Mountaineering boots, Crampons, and an ice axe.
Harness, jumar, carabiners, lock, and unlock.
Helmet, Down Jacket, Glacier glasses, headlamp, and Sleeping bag (20 °C)
Peak climbing from Strat Khare
Climbers usually start Summit Pus from Khare because it is the last safe, practical, and well-established high camp settlement before moving onto the glacier.
1. The very best place for acclimatization.
Because Khare (4,950m) is the ideal altitude for your body to adjust before ascending to Mera Peak high Camp (5,780m), spending a night or two here reduces the risk of AMS altitude sickness.
2. It is good, safe, and stable terrain.
Khare is located on solid ground | Not on a Glacier. It has flat camping areas and lodges -much safer than now now-covered glacier.
3, Gateway to the glacier.
Just above Khare begins the Mera Glacier, where climbers put on crampons and rope up. Khare is the last place where you can prepare equipment comfortably.
4, lodge and support services
Khare has a Tea house | Lodges, Climbing Guides, and climbing Gear rental. This makes a perfect operational base before moving to the high camp.
5, Correct staging for summit success
From Khare -High camp-summit, the safest and most manageable itinerary. If you want, I can explain the full route itinerary or compare the Khare route vs the Lukla to Khare.
Climbing Mera Peak, 6,470 Meters in Nepal, is one of the busiest and popular trekking peaks in the Himalaya kingdom of Nepal. The main attraction from the summit is the spectacular 360-degree panoramic view of the world’s high mountains and offering five other mountains that are over eight thousand high mountain peaks.
Everest (8,848m)
Cho-Oyu (8,188m)
Lhotste (8516m)
Makalu (8,485m)
Kanchenjunga (8,586m)
From the Peak, top offer other incredible views of the Himalaya.
Ama Dablam (6,812m) Baruntse (7,129m) and Hinku valley glaciers, plus stunning sunrise views-Himalayan giants glowing gold and pink,
From Lukla to Mera Peak, there are two itineraries to reach Kothe to Khare.
The classic fastest route is Zatrwa La pass (4,610m) and via Thuli Kharka-Kothe. The trail from Chutanga steeply ascends to Zatrwa, which can be a higher risk of altitude sickness due to the quick elevation gain.
We recommend the following route ( If you have time: Go trek via Pangom, Chhatre Khola with Makalu -Barun tril. It is good, safe in terms of acclimatization, far more beautiful, and gives a real Himalayan wilderness experience.

Mera Peak climbing during the two best seasons
1, Autumn (September to November) is the best season, with clear skies and stable weather, with excellent visibility from summit views. Moderate temperatures (cold at night, but manageable. Trails are dry and safe. Both months mid mid-October to mid-November usually considered the prime time for the Expedition.
Spring, March to May -Also the best season
2, Mid March to May is also a good time for Peak climbing, stable climbing conditions, warmer temperatures than autumn, and beautiful blooming rhododendron forests on the approach, and less cold at night at high camp compared to autumn.
Winter (December-February
3. We don’t recommend those months because that time is very cold, with high winds and a higher risk and deep snow.
Monsoon -June to August
4. These three months heavy rain in the Trekking areas, clouds reduce visibility, risk of landslides, slippery trails, and snowy, unstable glacier conditions.
Physical condition
Advance train, build up your cardiovascular fitness with hiking or running before going to high camp.
Prepare your trekking and climbing gear | invest in high-quality trekking and climbing equipment, including waterproof clothing, sturdy boots, and a comfortable daypack.
Acclimatization in the trek
Recognize Symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS): Symptoms include headaches, nausea, dizziness, and fatigue. If symptoms worsen, descend immediately.
Use Medications if Necessary: Medications like acetazolamide (Diamox), but consult your doctor before using them.
Follow the “Climb High, Sleep Low” Principle: Gain altitude during the day, but sleep at a lower elevation.
Go Slow: Walk at a steady, slow pace to avoid overexertion.
Rest Well: Ensure you get adequate sleep each night to help your body recover.
