Mera Peak is often called a training place for future expeditions. It’s ideal for clients looking to step into the world of alpine climbing. While not much technical, peak climbing requires the use of ropes and crampons, an axe, and a harness, plus a helmet. You also need to walk at a high altitude, especially from Mera High Camp to the summit and descending to Khare, which takes 10-12 hours; it is quite a long day for the Mera peak climb.
From the Mera peak top, you will see 5 of the world’s highest peaks, such as Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga, plus other 6,000-meter Himalayan peaks.

Mera trek starts flight from Kathmandu, Lukla, or Ramechhap to Lukla (2800meters). From Lukla trail diverges from the crowded way to the Everest Base Camp trekking route and heads south toward Chutook and Pangom, which is before entering the remote Hinku valley.

Culture and history of the Mera region
Many Trekker climbers focus only on pushing up the Summit peak. But the Mera region has a cultural and historical place. The villages route is home to Sherpa, Rai, Magar, and Tamamang communities, each other unique traditions, Buddhist monasteries, and an old way of the Mera base camp trek.
Mera Peak was first climbed in 1953 by JIMMY Roberts and Sen. Tenzing. The same year, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were the first to climb Everest. After that, it has become one of Nepal’s most popular trekking peaks.

Need training before climbing Mera
Climbing to 6,470 m is physically demanding. Preparation should begin several months before the mountain climb and focus on,
ENDURANCE: Long hiking, running, or cycling.
STRENGTH: Leg and core exercises.
HIGH ALTITUDE ADAPTATION: If possible, practice trekking above more than three thousand feet before the travel.
MOUNTAIN SKILLS: Familiarity with crampons, an ice axe, and walking in the snow.

The best time for climbing is during the spring (late March to May and autumn (late September to the end of November.

Acclimatization in the trek
