High camp Mera Peak Summit and back to Khare

Two days Mera peak climbing from Khare

Mera Peak trekking is a gradual climb that depends heavily on the weather. It should take about 5/6 hours to reach the summit from the high camp after we leave at 2 am. We will need to take our time and enter a rest step before beginning the descent. Overlooking the broad glacier are two ridges flanking the central summit. As we climb the snowfields, we avoid the crevasses. Steep sections like this can take up to two hours to complete. On the way up, the route will turn east to pass the left-hand refrigerator before turning back towards Mera’s main summit ridge. Among the three peaks on Mera Peak, the highest is our goal. Short steep snow slopes are easy to climb, but the last 30m/98 feet requires much effort, sometimes by Jumaring on an ice section and climbing to the summit. Having reached the summit and enjoyed the incredible views, we abseiled down before descending back to High Camp. We will rest for one hour before heading back to Khare.
